The fight against laziness and time management for the photographer
Let’s not forget that many photographers are now giving their clients photographs in indecently long periods. I will not quote wedding clerks who give out albums after 9 months, when children are already born in many families, and there are no photos yet, as well as those photographers who first take photo sessions, they take 10,000 rubles from people. per hour of the photo shoot, including make-up and processing, and then process the result for two months. These are simply the worst examples that I could find in the market, and in fact, the situation with the right photographers is much better. For example, when I worked in the wedding market, I always set the deadline for returning photos per
month, although in most cases I gave it earlier. Today, working with customers to take pictures of the subject, I can afford to give photos in a week only on projects that I shoot all day. If I process them longer, they simply will not work with me.
There may be several reasons for such long terms, although the main one is still laziness.
If you are immersed in the theory of time management, you probably know that the Americans even gave a more precise definition of laziness – this is the terrible word procrastination. The fact is that our body, if it has the option of doing something or not doing something, always prefers the latter, and not always directly, but often simply switching your attention from important to unimportant things. Take social networks, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram, Odnoklassniki, Facebook … yes, anything – no matter what you do, most importantly, do not do your main business. There is still a cure for all this.
But first, let’s try to determine what laziness is.
For a Russian person, laziness is a tool to counteract the dullness of superiors, unnecessary restrictions and bureaucracy, although the bureaucracy is also a manifestation of laziness, though, laziness of other people. However, for a self-employed photographer, laziness in relation to his work is illogical. We are all always proud that we have a dream job and, as the classic said, “do yourself a job from a hobby, and you will not work a day”.
Naturally, the very definition of a problem does not solve – it is just an opportunity to find another excuse for yourself. If you do not know, laziness is a purely psychological phenomenon, and often not even very related to the importance of the task or unimportance.
Planning is a Dead End
There are a couple of very good, but not leading anywhere time management theories. For example, take the same Gleb Arkhangelsky, who grew his empire on this, published books and regularly sells tickets for his performances. I can’t say that he is a bad time manager, but his theory mainly works at the later stages of the fight against his own procrastination. He offers you to create lists, algorithms for solving your problems, use software that is suitable for a number of purely optimization tasks, but at the same time many who listen to him frivolously say that his theory does not work. Meanwhile, I have subscribed to it, and I think that he says extremely sober things that even very much solved me, although I never bought his courses. The fact is that he misses one, as it seems to him, the obvious thing. He assumes that what he already understood is also known to you, because for him this is taken for granted, and there is no need to explain. But we, the beginning time managers, only have to solve this problem. Therefore, never start by searching for software that will miraculously save you or by compiling lists that will help you find the time on your busy schedule.
This is fundamentally wrong, because a person who does not know how to manage time has already been scheduled all the time, and no list or calendars will help.
There is always time
The number one task is that you can always find the time in your own, as it seems to you over the busy schedule. If you think that everything is clogged with you, this is just another snag of your body. He simply does not want to work, so he sends you false signals. Once you understand this, you will already take the first step to improve your schedule. In other words, the first step to good time management is to simply understand that you need it. Just accepting the problem itself, for example, that “you are an alcoholic”, is already the first step towards solving this problem. Admitting this, a person burns bridges to retreat for himself.
The second point that you need to perform is to provide the necessary amount of rest for your body. If you don’t get enough sleep, drink coffee with cups during the day, you are constantly depressed, or vice versa, on your nerves, it seems that the world is heading the wrong way, you watch too many opposition videos and constantly blame someone else for your failures – all this Already a reason to think. Provide yourself with enough sleep and rest.
